VonWidmann Designs IEHS™

VonWidmann Designs, LLC has spent 15 years developing innovative exhaust systems. Their new Integrated Exhaust Hull Structure (IEHS™), which integrates the exhaust outlets into the hull structure, significantly improves performance while further reducing sound levels on the already quiet and efficient Ellis 36.

The previously standard wet exhaust and lift muffler are replaced by submerged rectangular exhaust vents incorporated into the hull structure. An "exhaust wedge", mounted just forward of the exhaust outlet, acts to draw exhaust gases out of the system. The reduced back pressure results in better fuel efficiency, more power and increased speed--not to mention an overall quieter exhaust that virtually eliminates fumes baffling over the stern. The IEHS™ also saves considerable space allowing for even more flexibility in below deck equipment configurations. The additional thrust and fuel savings are added pluses to the already very efficient semi-displacement Ellis hull designs.
